报告人简介:YAO Kui received his bachelor degree in electronics engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, master degree in technical physics from Xidian University, and Ph.D in electronic materials and devices from Xi’an Jiaotong University. Currently, he is a Principal Scientist and the Programme Manager for the material-critical Sensors and Transducers Programme at Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research), Singapore. He is also an Adjunct Professor in School of Material Science and Engineering (MSE), Nanyang Technical University (NTU). During 1998 - 1999, he worked in Materials Research Laboratory (MRL), The Pennsylvania State University, USA. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow in Microelectronics Center, NTU, during 1995-1997. His research areas cover smart materials, particularly dielectric, piezoelectric and ferroic materials, and the sensors and transducers enabled with these materials, including their applications for structural and condition monitoring, energy harvesting and storage, ultrasonic and photo-acoustic non-destructive testing and diagnosis, noise and vibration mitigation.
报告内容简介:The stimulus-response behaviors based on electrical polarization in materials are valuable for realizing multiple signal and energy conversion functions including effective electromechanical transductions. In the Sensors & Transducers Programme at IMRE, the polarization-crucial sensing and energy transduction mechanisms are explored for advancing sensor and transducer devices and technologies. In my talk, several examples in the designs of piezo-smart materials and demonstration of acoustic sensors and transducers with unique feature and/or superior performance properties will be presented, particularly including 1-D piezoelectric nanostructures, acoustic piezo-foams, large area piezoelectric transparent speakers, wireless/batteryless piezoelectric acceleration sensors, direct-write ultrasonic transducers, and high frequency ultrasonic transducers. These innovations in piezo-smart materials, acoustic sensors and transducers enabled with the polarization-crucial energy conversion mechanisms have provided promising technical solution as demanded in many of the currently fast growing applications, including structural and condition monitoring, noise mitigation, health care, and intelligent manufacturing.
