The talk focuses on Bayesian framework for senor fusion, where from noisy, indirect, partial and sporadic observations of a stochastic dynamic system, the goal is to estimate sequentially (over time) the posterior density function of the state of the system. Sensor control is posed as a partially observed Markov decision process, where the goal is sequential decision making on future sensor actions so that the overall utility of sensing is maximized.

Branko Ristic博士,澳大利亚皇家墨尔本理工大学工程学院首席研究员。1995年于昆士兰理工大学(QUT)获得电气工程专业博士学位,1996-2015年任职于澳大利亚国防科学技术委员会,担任国际顶级期刊IEEE Trans on Single Processing副主编(2013-2015)、Information Fusion编辑。其研究方向主要为:信息融合、目标跟踪、统计信号处理、传感器控制、机器人等。发表了期刊论文和书籍章节80余篇,并著有两本专著。获得2014年IET RSN Premium Award学术奖,2005和2009年Information Fusion conferences、2005和2009年DICTA conferences最佳论文奖。
Dr. Branko Ristic is Principal Research Fellow at School of Engineering in RMIT University. He received Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from QUT (Australia) in 1995 and joined Defence Science and Technology (DST) in 1996 where he stayed until 2015. Dr. Ristic serves as associate editor of IEEE Trans. on Single Processing (2013-2015) and board member of Information Fusion Journal. His research interests are information fusion, target tracking, statistical signal processing, sensor control, and robotics. Dr. Ristic published over 80 journal papers and book chapters and two influential books. He won several awards for his publications, including the IET RSN Premium Award in 2014, and the best paper awards at Information Fusion conferences in 2005 and 2010, and DICTA conferences in 2005 and 2009.
